Responsible business practice is an integral part of the DPDHL Group corporate strategy. DHL meets the expectations of their stakeholder through their steadfast commitment to economic, social and ecological sustainability across the Group. Responsible business practice enables DPDHL to contribute to society while creating business opportunity and growth, minimize business and financial risk for both the company and its stakeholder, continually build their reputation and ensures that their business activities adhere to national laws and regulations, ethical standards and international guidelines which is something they expect from their suppliers as well. Moreover, DHL applies the Responsible Business Practice Network which identifies focuses on issues, sets standards and targets, improves the Group's performance in those areas and creates transparency with regard to progress made against our targets. Members of the RBP network maintain an ongoing dialogue with their respective stakeholders which then ensures that stakeholder expectations in regard to social and environmental issues are accounted for appropriately and that our business is aligned systematically with their interests. These practices ensures sustainability with profitability and maintains the Group's overarching goal.



Social Responsibility


DHL as a global leading logistics company, had a particular responsibility for society. For DHL Corporate Citizenship is showing their company’s commitment with activities in key areas with programs such as GoHelp for disaster management, GoTeach for improving educational activities and employability, Refugee aid in Germany. DHL has been a member of the Corporate Citizenship network since 2014. They record their corporate citizenship activities based on LBG criteria and make them quantifiable. They continually strive to improve the scope and quality of the data they collect. Being a member of the Corporate Citizenship network helps DHL ensure sustainability in their business operations. Since they have to update their activities, it is a way for them to implement programs for corporate citizenship. Moreover, DHL is inclined to having community outreach programs focused on instilling the spirit of volunteerism among DPDHL Group employees and calls this the Global Volunteer Day. This event encourages the employees to devote time and effort to create a positive impact in their communities. DHL implements this event annually which bundles global volunteerism and supports the sustainability strategy to serve the company’s economic interest.

DHL makes sure that the people know who the board members are by posting their profiles on their website, this way this makes the public know who are held accountable and responsible for the decisions made in the corporation. This puts good pressure on the Board Members to perform well in order to not ruin their name and the name of the company as well. In the site all of the credentials and the accomplishments of the members of the board, that way, the company is able to show everyone that their leaders are competent and are capable of leading the company.

Corporate Procurement selects suppliers and ensures that they observe DHL’s standards and values in their own supply chains.

Their compliance management system focuses on antitrust and competition law, bribery and corruption, as well as fraud and embezzlement for purposes of self-enrichment.

3.     Data Protection & Security
This involves safeguarding information against unauthorized access, ensuring both the integrity and avail ability of data by maintaining stable IT systems as well as ensuring adherence to their data protection standards as laid down in the Deutsche Post DHL Group Data Privacy Policy.

4.     Corporate Security
A Group-wide security management system ensures the security of their employees, sites and supply chains worldwide. Using in-depth risk and trend analyses, they assess potential business security risks and develop appropriate measures to protect their logistics systems and networks.

5.     Occupational Health & Safety
Their risk management organization creates insurance benefits programs for their employees in regions where social healthcare coverage is either insufficient or does not exist.

Society & Engagement

Corporate citizenship at Deutsche Post DHL Group is about giving back to the communities in which they live, work and conduct business. Some of their programs are talked about in other parts of the blog like their projects called GoTeach which is their education program. They also have other projects that they implemented so that they can help the communities around them. One of the other projects is GoHelp, the Group’s global program includes all emergency relief measures in the wake of natural disasters as well as disaster preparedness measures in disaster-prone regions. And in 2016, DHL actively involved in refugee aid. In 2016 the Group made an important contribution to the integration of refugees in Germany, relying on the tremendous support and involvement from our employees as well as close collaborative partnerships with leading aid organizations.

Environment & Solutions

 In 2008, DHL became the first global player in the logistics industry to establish a climate protection target. This goal – to improve their carbon efficiency by 30% over the 2007 baseline by the year 2020 – was achieved in 2016, four years earlier than planned. Since they can see what they can achieve, listed below are their targets for 2025:
·      Increase carbon efficiency by 50% compared to 2007 levels. is new target is based on the approach taken by the Science Based Targets initiative.
·      They also plan on reducing local air pollution emissions by operating 70% their own first and last mile services with clean pick-up and delivery solutions, including the use of bicycles and electric vehicles.
·      They want more than 50% of their sales to incorporate Green Solutions, making their customers’ supply chains greener.

·      And lastly, to train 80% of their employees to become certified GoGreen specialists and actively involve them in their environmental and climate protection activities. This includes joining partners to plant one million trees each year as part of their commitment to forest conservation.
